Following the initiative developed by VALORCAR to build a container for transportation and packaging of critical condition lithium-ion battery waste from electric vehicles, tests were recently carried out in order to assess the behavior in the event of the battery catching fire .
In these tests, the container thermal insulation capacity and resistance to flames release to the exterior were evaluated when the battery modules inside it burn. The results made it possible to confirm the good thermal insulation capacity and identify some aspects to improve in new containers.
The container was designed and manufactured by SOPINAL, and the tests were carried out by the Center for Forest Fire Studies of the Association for the Development of Industrial Aerodynamics.
